1962-64 Chevy II The VIN plate is on the left front door hinge pillar directly below the upper hinge.

Not produced in 1964. ** Only if followed by 35, 37, or 67. In 1964, "Chevy II Nova 400" became "Chevy II Nova."
4 & 5	Body Code: 11: 2-door 6-passenger sedan; 35: 4-door 2-seat station wagon; 37: 2-door 5-passenger sport coupe; 45: 4-door 3-seat station wagon; 67: 2-door 5-passenger convertible; 69: 4-door 6-passenger sedan. *Not produced in 1964.

1965-71 Chevy II and Nova The VIN is a 13-digit code stamped on a plate. From 1965-67, this plate is on the left front body hinge pillar directly below the upper hinge. From 1968 to 1971, the VIN is visible through the driver's side of the windshield.
